Hairy Beast

I wont this:
I know. I know. It is a foul beast. But I want it so bad. It called to me from the aisle from which it sat at JCPenny's. It is so overpriced. It's like a hollow puppy that Tony wouln't let me have from the adopt-a-dog carnival at the PetCo. I want it. I would snuggle it and pet it and love it and call it Steadman.

Halloween

Tony has a favorite show: Son's of Anarchy. I absolutely hate that show. I can't stand it. If I'm upstairs and hear it playing downstairs with the volume set at its lowest setting it makes me run to the bathroom and hurl the last thing I consumed. It's a TV show that encourages dirty white trash behavior. Ugh. So, that's what we dressed up as for Halloween. Tony is the biker guy and I am his dirty old lady with 4 illegitimate kids with 3 different daddies who is living off welfare in a trailer in Kearns.

The best part of the entire evening is that I got to dress up kinda skanky with no apologies for dressing like a skank.

Kelly, Jen and I attempted double coupons again. This time we faired much better. It's not the best I've ever done, but still some almost free crap, so I'm happy. All this junk for $20.14

3 more reasons i love chick-fil-a

1. They have pellet ice.
2. Whenever Shelby is in the car and we go through the drive thru they give her a doggie treat.
3. Tonight after giving me my cup of pellet ice the guy at the window asked if he could get me anything else. I pointed to the pink balloon on the other side of the store. He went and got it and tied it on my wrist for me!

Smugness is Sexy

I made the highest grade on my test in my personal finance class. Now, I'm sure this has happened previously in other classes, but today was the first time that the professor announced it for everyone to hear.

Just thought I would let you know.

$35.69 worth of stuff for $4.87. It would have been less but Tony needed those stinkin' burritos at the last minute without any coupons.

Rice Wine

In a quest to change my status from "stinkin' lazy wife" to "marginally acceptable wife" I try to cook dinner most nights and a new recipe once a week. This week's adventure dinner required that I do a little shopping at the Asian market right by the freeway. That place smelled foul. I'm sure I could figure out what it was if I would just allow myself to think about it, but I don't wanna.

I had to buy some rice wine for my dinner spectacular. It was cheaper than I thought it would be, ringing up at a mere $1.53

On the drive home it occurred to me that the cashier didn't check any ID. I wondered if my rice wine was really wine at all. I closely inspected the bottle. It says 15% alcohol!

Budweiser is only 5% alcohol. This much cooler looking bottle is only .16 an ounce and 3x the kick. So, if I was a budget conscious drinking I would totally be knocking back the rice wine.

Coupons Matter

When someone talks negatively about coupons I get really upset. It could be some idiot on the news,an ex-stalker on facebook or a co-worker, but I still get mad enough to turn off the TV or eat my lunch on the toilet in the bathroom.

It matters! Those dollars add up! And since I enjoy it so much its a hobby that pays!

Just to prove its not a waste of time I calculated the time spent and money saved today on my weekly shopping trip. I counted 6 minutes for dumpster diving for coupons while walking Shelby. I spent 33 minutes making a menu for the week and matching the best local deals with coupons I already had or could print. We spent 28 minutes at the grocery store doing the shopping. Without coupons or price matching this weeks groceries and household items would have been $58.35. We ended up paying $34.76.

That's TWENTY DOLLARS. More than I get paid for the same time spent at work.

Shelby's New Dress

Kelly bought Shelby this dress! How cute! It is a little short and a little tight but Kelly thinks Shelby is a little sluty anyway, so I understand.

Plus this is my very first iMovie. So hot huh?

Poop Dispute

Things became heated at the dog park tonight over a little bit of poo. On one side we have Dr. Fabulous:
I like Dr. Fabulous because he also owns a Beagle. During this feces confrontation he tried to agree with the aggressor, appease the aggressor and finally just walk away.
The aggressor was Uncle Rico:
I didn't like Uncle Rico from the moment he arrived at the dog park wearing a pink tye dyed shirt tucked into his size 00 jeans. And the same way I don't like couples where the female half is exceptionally taller than her male counterpart, I don't like partnerships like Uncle Rico where his female counterpart is exceptionally larger than himself.
Things at the park we going smoothly until Uncle Rico started minding other people's business. He accused Dr. Fabulous of not picking up after his dogs. The fact is, I saw him pick up the poop. He walked around after his dogs and disposed of their business in the proper manner. At first Dr. Fabulous tried to appease him by picking up the alleged Beagle pile, he then apologized, but then Uncle Rico got all in his face...yelling about poop. Uncle Rico and his female (Beatrice) went all Poo Poo Po Po. So, Dr. Fabulous called the real police.
Tony and I waited around for an hour but the police never showed. I guess they had more pressing matters.

Couponing is for the little people too!

Beggin' Strips are Shelby's favorite. When I saw them on sale for $2.25 and noticed my BOGO for Beggin' Strips was about to expire I had to stock up. We got 14 bags for $15.75. Thats lots less than their normal price of $41.58.

And for all of you who think even $15.75 is too much (...Kelly) just remember, you can't put a price on love.

Real Soccer

Um... yeah. It's not real soccer. It's Reaaaaaaaal Soccer. Like I'm not implying that its not fake soccer. Thats the name of the team: Real. Yeah, it's dumb.

But we went to the game. see:
And I learned two things.
1. Soccer is not a good game for people who need resolution. Homeboys played for 90 minutes without making a goal. So at the end there wasn't any sudden death or free throws or anything. Nobody won. Lame-o
2. If I ever go again I want to sit in the Black Pearl section. The Black Pearl section was located on the other side of the field from us. They had big flags that they waved in the air and looked like sails and they had this cannon that kept blowing smoke into the air. And I didn't see it, but I am sure there were pirates and rum over there. Look directly across the field and a little to the left. There it is.

Double Coupon Tuesday

Tuesday Kelly and I made out second attempt at double coupon Tuesdays at WalMart. (Our first attempt was so horrifying I cannot even write about it) Disappointment lingers. I was so un-elated at the end of this trip I didn't have the energy to set everything up and take pictures. And here is why:

1. There is a designated register to check out customers with coupons to double... it is staffed by the kid who can't do simple addition and subtraction in his head.
2. Each item has to be price checked, then the value of the coupon subtracted by said employee, price override to input price and the coupon scanned. This takes 90 seconds per item.
3. Employee proceeds to tell me math is his good subject and then mumbles,"$1.08 minus 50cents would be.....move the decimal... carry the one.... 58 cents!"
4. I have to make small talk with a 19 year old with limited social skills who I am afraid is going to ask me if I want to grab an ice creme from the McDonalds inside the WalMart at the end of the transaction.
5. The reciept does not show total savings or the original price of the item. There is no way to tell how much money I saved by enduring double coupons!!
6. I hate WalMart.

New Desk

I found this awesome desk on KSL Wednesday afternoon and had to have it. For only $20 it was a steal of a deal. Its like 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. The bottom is made of steel and the top is a smooth piece of wood, fantastic for schoolwork or crafting. I love it! And it has these drawers. Not ordinary drawers but magic drawers with a secret security measure to make sure no one breaks into your important stuff.

Right now its sitting in the dining room. Mostly because it is too heavy to move upstairs. And because I don't have a kitchen table.

Bwaaa! I feel so awesome and productive sitting at this desk. I look like the freakin bishop!

Shelby is my secretary. She sits in the corner until I need her.

Click...Take A Pic ...@ Rio

I saw this pair at the Rio the other day. Their long sleeve shirts are the same shade of eggplant and both are wearing super fashionable puffy vests. Since this Rio location is across the street from a high school, I thought maybe twin day or student council? But they look way too old. Or maybe they are on family holiday from France and wear matching shirts so they don't get separated? Or is it the new in thing to wear matchy matchy with your significant other?

** I am leaning towords foreigners cause they each got one taco. And I am thinking real fatty Americans would have gotten either the burrito or the "salad"

George & Reba

Last Saturday Kelly & Jared and Tony & I went to see George and Reba! It was sooo hot. Like 87 degrees in there. And then there was Reba.

George was there too but he sang that one song I really don't like and didn't dance or anything. Tony said it was because he was "old country" butI still feel like he could have tapped his foot to the beat or something.

and I was like, "heck in the world Rebs, when did you get so old and platypus like?" But she was fantastic anyways.

And Tony had a hookup for discounted concessions. We got sodies and popcorn and churros and cotton candy!

Tevas

I've wanted a pair of Tevas for a very very long time. Tony and I were at DSW trying on shoes with super high heels when I stumbled across a pair. They were size 11. They had been marked down from $77 to just $17. So of course I bought them. And I wore them to dinner. And I wore them bowling. And I wore them to bed. I loved them.

But you may ask, "Manda,I have never seen these beloved Tevas on your feet? " It's cause Shelby got jealous and ate them. I hate her.

Dog Park

Since Shelby is getting fatter every single day we decided to take her to the dog park this afternoon. She acted all hardcore and only played with the big dogs. When it started snowing we wrapped things up and headed to the car. Shelby had a deliriously happy grin on her face as well as the shared slobber from 4 or 5 other dogs.

She might of gotten just a little to big for her britches. She is all worn out.
