It was last Friday. I went into Target a frazzled mess. I had been out of coke, my energy source, for two days. I was a mess. My scraggle bun was in full force and I had my shades on to hide my dilated eyes. I am sure I looked like a druggie desperately seeking her next fix.
When I got to the checkout my card wouldn't work. Something about putting it through the washer and dryer...I don't know. Anyway I stood there for an insane amount of time as the cashier tried to swipe it about 300 times.
The lady behind me: patiently shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Me: laughing nervously. Silently hoping the freakin card would work so I could get out of there and chug my coke in the peace and quiet of the parking lot.
After what seemed like at least 7 minutes the lady behind me offered to pay for my coke if I would just get movin. I took my shades off to thank her. She said, "I understand. I used to be a coke fein too. You should try Excedrin when you cant get the coke."
Muhammad finally got my card to work and I scampered out of there. But it made my day that there are other coke feins and recovering feins out there willing to take care of each other.

Honey Island Swamp Monster. Slidell, Louisiana
Alex found this for me:
"We was out on the boat, jus me n' Bobby some Bud Light and a few cans of vienna sausage. We saws it man, swear to Jeasus up in Heaven" - Bubba
Don't discredit it until you watch it man.

Free Health Care
Imagine two middle age men walk up to two separate cash registers at Wendy's. They both order the same thing: A number one combo with no mustard and a diet coke. The first man pulls out cash and pays for his meal. The second man wants his meal for free. He waits and waits at the counter, unable to pay for his food, but still demands it. He lives in America for goodness sake. Shouldn't he be entitled to what every other American is, a meal from Wendy's? Man number one has already finished his meal and is leaving. Second man waits, and pounds his fist on the counter, sleeps on the floor, has loud annoying conversations on his cell phone and yells at the staff to give him his food. He may eventually get it, but I'm pretty sure there will more than just an all beef patty, lettuce and tomato on his burger.
I just finished reading this article online. When I first saw the video a few weeks ago I cried. How absolutely awful. I hurt inside for Esmin Green and her family. What a completely awful way to die.
But the rational part of me wonders: Esmin, why didn't you take care of yourself? Why didn't you plan ahead? I am sure she wasn't oblivious to the fact that she was close to 50 years old. Where was her family? She had six children, could none of them be there to make sure their older, weak mother was looked after?
I don't believe in universal medicine. Nor do I believe it is the Governments responsibility to provide health care and health care coverage. Their current programs suck... and only look to get worse. Medicare reimburses physicians at a little more than 30%. It cost doctors money to see Medicare patients. It cost more in paper work to submit a Medicaid claim than a physician can hope to recoup from submiting it.
No wonder over worked, understaffed, under supplied facilities pick and choose the patients they see. From my personal experience uninsured and under insured patiens take more nurse and physician time and energy, require more extensive workups and tests and normally argue for a discount because they are "paying out of pocket."
The crazy thing is I have insurance. I don't get a discount on my premiums. No one helps me out. I still have to pay my copays. That money is coming directly out of MY pocket.
So, yes I feel for Esmin, she shouldn't have died that way. But like a lot of people in this country she relied on free health care and she ended up getting everything that free paid for.

The Dentist
I had to go to the dentist. I was really scared so I had him sedate me. I remember sitting in the waiting room after I took a Valium, 2 sleeping pills and some other pill when the dentist came up to me and asked "How are you feeling?" I responded, " I'm fine, but you have two faces."
Alex had to come pick me up after the appointment. We made this video to document the events.

Freaktards
Alex and I were at Michaels ealier today. The lady checking out in front of us forgot a shelf she had purchased. As we were walking out the door she was pulling around the front of the store. I steped out into the street and waved at her. She aknowledged me and started to swerve around me. So I yelled "Lady!" she then stopped and rolled down her window. I told her about the forgotten shelf and she pulled over, went in the store and retrieved it.
What the freak lady??? I wasn't going to knife you or anything. I didnt think I looked too oger-ish. And I had just purchased something myself... so I wasn't about to hassle you for money.
Why do strangers give me krusties when all I am doing is trying to help??

Pei Wei

Pei Wei is my new favorite place to eat. We had some in our office 2 weeks ago and I tried something I really liked. I have been trying to find it at the resturant, tasting everything on the menu in the process. I was there the other day, waiting for my To Go, and was pleased to witness the "Worst Manager of the Month" award recipient in action.
He was definitly a poop-eater. He snapped at the extreamly pregnat girl to go wash the windows and when she could reach the very bottom he told her to "try harder". He told the cleaning lady he didnt trust her with the key to the paper towel holder in the bathroom. And yelled at the cashier for not being "perky enough". And the whole time he was rolling around, bumping into tables and people on one of these:

I began to wonder if it was because an employee got tired of him and busted his knee.

A question I didn't ask in Sunday School
Last night Alex and I went and saw Indiana Jones. It had a few "Indy wouldn't do that" moments but was overall and entertaining show. If you haven't seen it I would recommend waiting until it goes to the dollar movie or have a boy take you...
Anyway we were discussing some of the weirder parts of the movie and went off on a tangent about God. I was taught in Sunday School that if you were a good little girl and followed all the rules and jumped through the hoops, when you died you got to be a God of your own world.
This makes me wonder: Is the God every Mormon worships the original God or just someone who passed the test and got his own world? And if you get your own world do you get to write your own scriptures? And who is the original God? And if you are God and mess up your world and it blows up do you get another one? And what happens if you run out of planets? And what if you don't want to play God, do you have to?
So, yeah, feel free to post a link to some church resource with the answers to these questions.
